As far back as I can recall, the little man has been enamored by balls. We used to bounce him on a yoga ball to put him to sleep, and the first thing that he picked up was most likely a ball. The first non-boob item that he tried to put into his mouth was a little orange ball with nubs (that coincidentally resembled nipples). Finally, 57% of the sounds that he makes come out sounding like ball (or, more accurately as baaaah). Little balls, big balls, balls of any color – if it’s round then he’s all in.
Mama started taking him to The Little Gym a few months ago and he immediately gravitated to two things: A blue Nobbie Gertie Ball and a Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set. He’s still working out how to aim when he throws a ball, but he absolutely loves when you hold him up to the rim so that he can dunk LeBron-stylie.
Needless to say, we were both stoked when Little Tikes asked me if I wanted to review their basketball set, and even more excited when they offered another set to give away to one lucky reader.
The box arrived and the little dude knew that something was up. He is a huge fan of boxes and this was a big one, so he was extra excited.
At this point I must admit that I was stalling for time, because attempting to put together toys can be devastating to the ego. Even seemingly simple toys can be such a pain in the ass to remove from the packaging that you forget that their objective is to be fun. My stall tactics failed though, as the little man was far too excited to see what was in the big, colorful box.
Thankfully, Little Tikes came through and there was zero frustration in unloading the contents of the box. Everything was there and looked to be unscathed from the shipping. So far, so good.
I quickly noticed that there was no instruction sheet amongst the parts and I got a little concerned. There were only 6 parts so I wasn’t too worried, but I was still surprised that there weren’t written directions on how to correctly assemble the product. I went back to the box so that I could use the photo as a guide, and promptly noticed that the instructions were actually printed on the side of the box.
It took literally one and a half minutes to put the basketball set together with a majority of the time spent installing the net. Little Tikes designed it so that there’s really only one way to put it together and I don’t think that it’s possible to do it incorrectly. They strongly recommend that you put sand in the base to keep it from tipping too easily. I’ll do that once the little man gets a little taller, and has a more consistent jump shot.
Overall, the Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set is a well-made and durable toy. The adjustable height means that it will grow with the little man and give him years of fun and exercise. Every kid should have one.

Well lucky for you assembly was a piece of cake, nothing more frustrating than getting something out of the box to put together and you suddenly find yourself in a plastic jungle nightmare.
And as he gets older, the pressure will be on as he will want that toy done and ready to go. Not to mention that the toys will also get more complex.
