Summer comes early in these parts and sticks around long past it’s welcome. It’s not uncommon for temperatures to be in the hundreds for long stretches and when that happens, the best thing to do is to partake in a water activity.
When you’re an adult, the possibilities are endless and oftentimes involve alcohol and gasoline (aka beer and boats). When you’re a baby, however, there are many limitations to what you can do. Since most people frown upon letting a 14 month old power his own jet ski, I was super stoked when Little Tikes sent us a water table to play with.
With help from the little dude, unpacking the water table was a breeze. We got everything sorted out and ready for assembly.
Putting it together took no more than five minutes and while this seems very fast, it must’ve felt like three and a half eternities to a baby. The little man was in his bathing suit and ready to rock. He kept coming over to check on my progress and to offer his advice, which consisted entirely of him telling me to be done already.
Once I had it together, mama started filling it up with water. I could try to explain all the features and attempt to put the fun into words, but I think these photos do a better job than I ever could:
The Little Tikes Fish ‘N Splash Water Table was designed for toddlers who are at least 2 years old, but this 14 month old had no problem getting soaked while grinning ear to ear. Here are some key features from the Little Tikes website:
- No tools required for easy assembly!
- Water table has fishing and counting play
- Water table help teach fine motor skills
- Kids can fill the fish bowl with water and watch it come splashing down
- Holds seven gallons of water (not included)
- Plastic accessories include a fishing pole, a fishing “net”, a cup, a turtle, a crab, a frog and 2 fish
Overall, the Little Tikes Fish ‘N Splash Water Table is a well-made and durable toy. It’s a great way to keep cool while developing eye-hand coordination and other fine motor skills. The little dude has a blast every time he plays with it and it’s cool to see him figure out new things each time.
