Like many people, I am a fan of the Coen Brothers and the film The Big Lebowski. Because of that movie, I cannot think about or look at a rug without The Dude’s memorable quote entering my mind.
That rug really tied the room together-The Dude
For the uninitiated, the seemingly pointless line is integral to the plot as the character of The Dude spends most of the movie trying to locate the rug in question after it is peed on and stolen. There’s a bit of bowling as well.
The point though, is that the statement is very, very true. A good rug can most definitely tie a room together and we found ourselves in a lengthy, epic battle between good (rug) and evil (rug) when it came time to purchase one for the nursery. We scoured the town and scoured the internet and just could not find what we were looking for. While it did not help that we did not know what we were looking for, we knew that we would know it when we found it (and we found that we would know it when we knew it).
Then we found it, the rug that tied the room together.
We had made it a habit to constantly check Amazon for rugs and there were a few that were decent. Then one day the perfect rug just appeared out of nowhere. When we received it and unwrapped it, it almost glowed and harps almost played as it slowly unfurled itself and greeted us with all it’s glory.
That rug had never appeared before nor has it appeared since on Amazon.
The spirit of The Dude abides.
I just found this blog, I’m not really sure how… reddit maybe? Anyway, I’ve enjoyed starting from the beginning. A look into my future. Thank for writing this, I find it entertaining.
